IBPS Clerk Preparation Tips

Only hard work, dedication and smart preparation plan can fulfill your dream. Here I am sharing some preparation tips for cracking IBPS clerk exam successfully.

  1. Remember that Prelims’ mark doesn’t count for the final scores during IBPS selections. It is purely for filtering out purpose. So, don’t waste your time preparing for all the topics. Prepare strategically.
  2. The marks of mains and GD/interview counts in the final result.  So, it necessary to prepare well for this.
  3. Start with your strong topics, finish it off soon and then practice your weak ones regularly.
  4. You can divide the topics into four types like the ones you can solve easily, the ones you can solve even though it takes more time, the ones you knew but forgot now and the ones that you are unfamiliar with.
  5. First, take the topics you can solve easily and finish it off faster.
  6. Then, take the topics you can solve even though it takes more time and practice them regularly so that you can improve your speed.
  7. Then, take the topics you forgot now and study them again. This may take time since you have to familiarize with them again. But, with regular practice, you can be a pro in them.
  8. Lastly, take the topics you don’t know and study them strategically. Study the important topics with more weight age since SBI PO has sectional cut offs.
  9. Concentrate on important topics like data integration, number series, quadratic equations, approximation, ratio and proportions, percentages, inequalities, puzzles, seating arrangements, coding and decoding, syllogism, close test, vocabulary, etc.
  10. Focus on improving your reading speed, level of comprehension and vocabulary.
  11. Study commonly made grammatical errors to crack such questions.
  12. Do not study too many new topics at once in the last minute.
  13. Allocate time for each section and question. Do not deviate from it.
  14. Learn multiplication tables till 20, squares, cubes, square roots and cube roots for numbers up to 30.
  15. You can solve previous year’s question papers.
  16. Know about Indian states, capitals, CM, Governors, Presidents, recently discussed amendments and acts, names of organizations, their CEOs, HQs, etc for general awareness.

  • Reach the Examination center on time: Time management play important role to score high and cracking IBPS clerk exam successfully. Always reach IBPS clerk exam center at the time or before the mentioned time in your IBPS clerk admit card. Right time or before time help you calm your mind and will be increase your efficiency during exam of IBPS clerk otherwise it’s reduce your concentration power during attempting question in exam period in examination hall. 
  • Read the Instruction carefully: Always read every information regarding IBPS clerk recruitment exam carefully before 2-3 days of examination and carry every necessary document regarding such as original ID proof, photo copy of ID proof, IBPS clerk admin card, passport size photograph etc. 
  • To analyze your strong section: First attempt strong section, than attempt medium section and then weak section during IBPS clerk exam because there are some time consuming questions which will affect your overall number of attempts. 
  • Time management: There are fix time for fix question during IBPS clerk exam. Divide your time for each section. Like if 60 minutes time three sections than time accordingly all section 
  • Speed as well as accuracy: As you know speed matter to score high and cracking exam successfully and also accuracy matter along it. So, try to solve question papers verbally instead help of copy and pen. 
  • Make sure while answering the questions: If you’re not sure about any questions answer, so ignore or not attempt, because its decrease you accuracy during IBPS clerk exam. Because every wrong answer decreases you score. 
  • See every question: Attempt first easy and simple question during exam in examination hall, read each instruction carefully before attempt. 
  • Use Shortcuts: Always prefers shortcut trick for solving question, never go with long process. Shortcuts will be necessary in quantitative aptitude or numerical ability where your mathematical skills will be experienced.

IBPS Clerk Preparation Tips


First check your preparation level via IBPS clerk mock test and some previous years question papers. Speed matter for cracking any recruitment and entrance examination with accuracy. Because without accuracy we nothing think more, so you have to practice a lot to get speed and accuracy at same time.

There are some step must follows before preparation

  1. Get and solve previous year’s questions paper without any help and answer key online.
  2. Watch reasoning basis YouTube channel and practice from below mentioned sources.
  3. Join coaching institute, in case if coaching institute very far from your home shift some time and don’t waste more and more time on traveling.
  4. Always prefer standards book, never go wrong book and lot of the book.
  5. Stay away from negative people; they will only low down your morale. Believe in your abilities and practice hard.
  6. Join IBPS clerk test series, its increase your speed and accuracy.
  7. Never go with late night study, always practice IBPS clerk online mock test same time as main exam time.

This recruitment exam is conducting to fill up more than 7,260 vacant posts. There are two mode of exam: preliminary and mains. The preliminary examination will be conducted for the one-hour duration, with three sections carrying 100 marks for 100 questions. The main examination will have four sections carrying a total of 200 marks for 190 questions, and candidates will get two hours and 40 minutes to solve them.
